However, these pliers are designed to leave a longer throw at the end of the coil (the part that is bent over) this is necessary for binding documents with oval holes and is extremely useful for use with 3:1 pitch coil and with 2.5 to 1 0.400 pitch coil. The longer throw helps to ensure that your coil will not spin back off the document during use.
